EU Guarantee Notice
The official harmonised notice on the legal guarantee of conformity, in all 24 EU languages, on Luma and Hyvä — required for EU consumer sales from 27 September 2026.
Adobe Commerce / Magento 2 · Compliance · Magento 2.4.4 – 2.4.9 · PHP 8.1 – 8.5 · Luma & Hyvä 1.5
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 requires traders selling goods to consumers in the European Union — online and offline — to display the official harmonised notice on the legal guarantee of conformity, prominently and at shop level, from 27 September 2026. The obligation follows from selling to consumers rather than from any particular product category, so it reaches merchants across sectors.
This extension puts that notice on your Magento storefront in all 24 official EU languages, using the European Commission’s own artwork, unaltered and never cropped, recoloured or stretched. It runs on a Luma-based storefront and on a Hyvä one, from a single package.
It is in place from the moment you enable it, with nothing to configure. The notice appears at checkout immediately before the customer places the order, as a link in the footer of every page, as a tab on every product page beside Details and More Information, and inside the order confirmation email. Each placement switches on or off independently and per store view, and a single Enable setting suppresses all of them at once for a store view that sells outside the EU.
The correct language is chosen automatically from each store view’s locale — a German store view shows the German notice, a French one the French notice, with English as the fallback for any locale outside the 24. A multi-language storefront needs no mapping, no uploads and no per-language setup.
Built for Hyvä, not adapted to it
Hyvä ships no requireJS, no Knockout and none of Luma’s stylesheet, so an extension written for Luma either breaks on it or drags Luma’s frontend back in. This one detects the running theme and renders from a second template written for Hyvä — chosen at render time, so nothing has to be switched, and a template you set yourself in layout or on a widget instance is never overruled.
- Nothing to build. The notice carries its own sizing and pop-up layout, so it renders correctly whether or not your Tailwind build ever scanned it. No
tailwind.config.jsentry to add and no frontend rebuild to remember. - The pop-up is an Alpine component, registered by name, so it works on Hyvä’s CSP build as well as the standard one.
- The footer link is yours to place, because Hyvä has no footer link list to join and the one your theme ships is markup, not a block. The admin hands you the layout to paste into your own theme rather than splicing a link into a footer it has never seen — every other placement is automatic.
- Your project theme counts as Hyvä, however many generations it inherits from a Hyvä base. A theme forked outright, inheriting from nothing, can be named in configuration.
- One package for both storefronts. It requires none of Hyvä’s PHP classes, so the same installation is valid on a Luma shop, on a Hyvä shop, and on a multi-store setup running one of each.
Tested on Hyvä 1.5. At checkout, the notice uses Magento’s own checkout, which on Hyvä means the Luma Fallback Checkout — Hyvä Checkout is a separate application this extension does not extend. Every other placement works on Hyvä natively.
How prominent it is, is your decision
The notice renders in one of three view modes: a compact thumbnail that opens the full notice in a pop-up, a single line of text that opens the same pop-up without showing the artwork, or the notice printed full size directly into the page.
- A shop that wants the lightest footprint leaves the footer link on and switches the rest off.
- A shop building a consumer-rights or terms page places the notice full size there through the included widget.
- A shop that wants shoppers to see it at the moment of purchase keeps the checkout placement.
Every trigger is a genuine link to the notice before any script runs, so a shopper whose JavaScript has failed still reaches it in a new tab rather than clicking something inert.
The artwork is itself a link to the official Your Europe guarantees page in the shopper’s own language — the same destination the notice’s printed QR code encodes — so scanning the code and clicking the picture lead to the same information. If you need to point somewhere else, such as your own guarantee terms, override the destination per store view.
Features
- Official Commission artwork in all 24 official EU languages, selected automatically from each store view’s locale, with an English fallback.
- Luma and Hyvä from one package, the Hyvä storefront rendering from a template written for it rather than a Luma template forced to fit — no Tailwind configuration, no frontend rebuild, CSP build supported.
- Four ready-made placements, all on by default — checkout before the order is placed, a footer link on every page, a product-page tab, and the order confirmation email.
- Three view modes — thumbnail with pop-up, text link with pop-up, or the notice full size in the page.
- Works without JavaScript, because every trigger is an ordinary link that the script upgrades into a dialog rather than replacing.
- Widget and Page Builder content type for any CMS page, block or layout container, each placement able to override the configured presentation on its own.
- Full store-view scoping, so language, placement and wording differ per country, and one setting turns everything off for a store view that is out of scope.
- Customer-group targeting, guests included, applied consistently to every placement; the confirmation email reads the group from the order.
- Configurable heading and information link, each falling back to wording translated into all 24 languages when left empty.
- Order confirmation email placement above the ordered items or below the grand total, with no email template to edit.
- Optional custom notice image per store view.
- Accessible by design — keyboard-operable triggers, descriptive alternative text, and an enlarged readable view.
- Role-based access through a dedicated ACL resource, so only the admin roles you choose can change the configuration.
Why merchants pick it
- Compliant from day one. It arrives configured for the common case, so the notice is displayed correctly without a project to set it up.
- No artwork to manage. All 24 official files ship with the extension and are matched to store views automatically — nothing to source, resize or replace as your storefront grows.
- Survives a replatform. A shop moving from Luma to Hyvä keeps the same extension, the same configuration and the same compliance position; only the theme changes.
- Safe to install on a live store. No database schema, no cron jobs, no controllers, no API endpoints, no rewrites of core classes, and no outbound network calls.
- Reversible. Disabling it removes every placement cleanly, leaving no orphaned footer link, empty tab or modified email template.
- Fits any theme. The notice scales proportionally inside whatever column it is placed in and is never cropped or distorted.
- Maintained. Compatibility updates and fixes for every supported Magento version, as with every mdsoft.dev extension.
Who needs it
Any merchant selling goods to consumers in the European Union. Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 places the harmonised notice at shop level rather than per product, whatever the assortment. That makes it different from the Regulation’s second visual, the GARAN label, which applies only per product and only in specific circumstances. If you sell to EU consumers, the notice applies to you.

What this extension does not cover
Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 introduces a second harmonised visual, the GARAN label for a commercial guarantee of durability. It applies per product, and only where the producer offers such a guarantee at no extra cost, covering the entire good, for longer than two years. That is a separate obligation, and this extension does not display the GARAN label. A companion extension for it is in development and not yet available.
Merchants who carry no goods with a qualifying durability guarantee need only the notice — which is what this extension provides.
An annual licence for one production installation, renewing yearly and cancellable at any time. Payment is handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record; your Composer credentials arrive by email straight after purchase. Also coming to the Adobe Commerce Marketplace.
This extension is a technical tool for displaying official European Union artwork and information. It does not constitute legal advice. Determining whether, when and where the harmonised notice must be shown remains the responsibility of the merchant. mdsoft.dev is an independent software vendor and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the European Commission.
